Server News

Dec 9, 2007 - We believe we have solved the problem with recent server slow-downs and outages. It was due to a poorly written script on one of the websites we host. We apologize for not catching this sooner.

Server Status

Dec 2007 -- NEW! We are experimenting with a new server status monitor. It provides up-to-the-minute information on server accessibility and other important details.

We expect to expand this feature during the next 6 months, so stay tuned!

Email

There are two ways of accessing email from our server. The first is with our Squirrelmail webmail utility. The second is with POP access. The examples below are for the fictitious domain of www.example.com. Be sure to substitute appropriate values according to your email domain.

Using Webmail

To use webmail, go to http://mail.example.com/ in your web browser.

Log in with your full username and domain, e.g. myself@example.com.

Using POP

To use POP to access your email, enter the following values into your mail software:

  • Host name: example.com
  • Username: myself@example.com
  • Port: 110 (e.g. do NOT use secure, SSH, or TLS settings)

Sending Mail

To send mail through our server, you must use SMTP. Use the following settings:

  • Host name: example.com
  • Authentication Required: YES
  • Username: myself@example.com
  • Port: 25 (e.g. do NOT use secure, SSH, or TLS settings)

Forgot Your Password?

If you do not have your email password, we will have to reset it for you. To request this, please use the form on the lower left of this page.

FTP

To upload your website's files to the server, you will need FTP software that supports SSH (a.k.a. SCP or SFTP.) Unfortunately, not all FTP software does this, but FileZilla does. FileZilla is both free and available for all major operating systems.

To connect, use the following settings. The example below is for the fictitious domain name of www.example.com:

  • Host: example.com
  • Port: 22
  • Server Type: SSH, SCP, and/or SFTP
  • Username: <username>
  • Password: <password>

Forgot Your FTP Login Info?

If you do not have your FTP password, we will have to reset it for you. If you do not have your FTP username or host, we can retrieve it for you. Please use the form on the lower left of this page to make either request.
